Year 2 Homework

Summer 2 Learning Log

Please have a look at some of the ideas in the learning log that your child can complete for homework; this half term’s overarching theme is ‘Buckets and Spades.’ When they do an activity please encourage them to bring it into school for sharing and celebrating. I look forward to seeing what you achieve! Please note: the Learning Log is for encouraging and sharing further scholarship, there is no ‘Show and Tell’ in Year 2.

Spellings
Spellings tests will take place every Friday morning. We have now covered all the words on the Y2 spellings list so the test will be 5 random ones each week. Please support your child’s learning of these by regularly revisiting the Y2 spellings list.

Extra Spellings

This document contains a list of words that children should know by the end of KS1. We will be practising these every day in school (in addition to the 5 weekly spelling card words) but please practise them at home too. Check that your child knows the Year 1 list as well as the Year 2 list.

Reading

Please can all children read, or be read to, for at least 15 minutes every night. It makes a huge difference to their learning, not only in reading but across all areas of the curriculum. Reading records will be checked on a daily basis.

My Maths

My Maths homework will be uploaded every Friday and the children will have until the following Tuesday to complete it. The expectation is that all children complete their homework as it supports their ongoing learning in school and will help them to become confident mathematicians.

Times Tables Rockstars

All children were given log-ins and passwords to access this online maths tool, if you have misplaced this and would like another copy please contact Mrs McCulloch. Times Tables Rockstars is an extremely useful game for embedding good times tables knowledge and for helping children develop confidence in this area of maths. Please allow and encourage your child to use this at home, even just 5 minutes a night can make a huge difference.

“Thank you for your ongoing support!”
