Children are asked to read a quality novel for at least 15 minutes each day (including Saturday and Sunday) to be recorded in their reading record by parents/guardians.
Each Friday morning your child will be tested on 5/6 words taken from the Year 3 word list. You can see each week’s spellings on the spelling document. Results of these spellings will be shared with you at parents’ evening and in their report.

Times tables should be practised regularly at home; knowing these is crucial to performance in Maths and the expectation of the national curriculum is that all children should know their times tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of Year 4. This means being able to recite times tables ie. 0 times 5 is 0,1 times 5 is 5 etc. and knowing related division facts i.e. 0 divided by 5 is 0, 5 divided by 5 is 1. The children will be tested on their times tables every Friday.
The Learning Log tasks are optional but we hope your children will find them interesting and feel motivated to take part in some of these. Any completed pieces of work will be shared and celebrated in school and rewarded with team points. We hope that every child will complete at least one of the tasks each half term.
